Round four of the PowerAde Isotonic South East Queensland Touch League (SEQTL) was played at the Brisbane Metropolitan Touch Association’s Whites Hill Sporting Complex on Friday 29 June 2007.
In the early game of the PowerAde Isotonic SEQTL Men’s Open division at 7.20pm, Country Club United (CCU) put together an impressive display to defeat Colts 5-2.
2007 Australian World Cup Open Mixed representative Jarrod Tump was the leading light for CCU, whilst Brett Hughes was a constant threat for the Colts combination.
In the 8.10pm timeslot, Dodgers continued on their winning way to head the competition table with a 5-3 victory over an improving Tigers outfit.
Australian Men’s Open superstar Nathan Jones is in outstanding form in the opening rounds of the season, and was again the most dominant player on the field, whilst Charles Seepo impressed for Tigers with a wholehearted performance in attack and defence.
In the late game at 9.00pm Southern Storm produced an emphatic 8-3 win over University Rebels.
Gary Doherty was the standout for the Storm, whilst 2006 Queensland State of Origin Open Mixed star Damien Moar showed his ability with a classy display in a losing side.
In the PowerAde Isotonic SEQTL Women’s Open Division, only one fixture game was played due to the National Youth Camp on the Sunshine Coast.
In the late game at 9.00pm, Uni-Rebels accounted for Dodgers 2-1 in a close tussle.
Renee Murphy was again Rebels best, whilst Nicola Slade played strongly for Dodgers.
The Colts v Storm and Crushers v CCU clashes have been rescheduled for later in the season.
The PowerAde Isotonic SEQTL will go into a one-week recess this Friday due to the unavailability of referees, players, and coaches participating in the Queensland Junior State Cup on the Sunshine Coast from the 6-8 July 2007.
All teams, heading into the half way point of the competition across the Men’s and Women’s Open, Division two and Division three A/B, eagerly await the resumption of the season on Friday 13 July 2007.
